Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”), we unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known.
Back when we began in 1960, our main focus was to get youth involved in missions. Today, we still focus on youth, and we also involve people aged 9 to 90. We currently work in more than 1,100 locations in over 180 countries, with a staff of over 18,000.
One of the joys of participating in YWAM is to work with people from many nations. YWAM’s staff (known as “YWAMers”) come from over 130 countries, including places like Norway, South Korea and Mexico.
YWAM Rogaland is a missions training and sending location, based on the west coast of Norway. Our heart is to serve both the local and global communities through evangelism, training and Mercy Ministries. YWAM Rogaland is one of the many thousands of YWAM training locations throughout the world.
We invite you to join us!
In 2005, Jan and Kristin Torland, After serving 11 years as base leaders in Eintrøa, God called them to pioneer YWAM Rogaland, little had they known that as a result of their willingness to follow the Lord and obey him, they were a blessing to many.
In January 2008, they ran their very FIRST Backpack Discipleship Training School (DTS). 1) HOW DID THE IDEA OF A BACKPACK DTS COME TO YOUR MIND? Since then the school has developed from year to year. The number of staff, students and outreach tracks has increased significantly, but our focus has never changed: To Know God and Make Him Known AROUND THE WORLD. God has used YWAM Rogaland to equip and disciple many people in order to have a radical encounter with God and become empowered to move forward as disciples of Jesus.
In YWAM Rogaland our vision is about ALL THE NATIONS.
We are dedicated to present Jesus personally to this generation, to mobilize as many as possible to help accomplish this task, and to train and equip believers for the fulfillment of the Great Commission into the world.
As citizens of God's Kingdom, we are called to love, worship, and obey our Lord. To love and to serve His Body, the Church, and to present the gospel for EVERY person throughout the whole world.
